Jeez, I think this quote couldn’t sum up the past 10ish months in the AI space more perfectly: “A wide range of tasks that used to take 5 years and a research team now just require API docs and an afternoon”. This article makes the case for the AI Engineer - those people that know the models, the tools, and the latest updates, and who can properly ship an AI product. Engineers, not researchers; practicalities, not PhDs. To top it all off, come October there will be the first AI Engineer Summit in San Fran - a conference covering everything in AI Engineering: UX, dev tools, infra, agents, LLMs, open-source, the lot. You don’t wanna miss it.

Well, if we were not done with the day in my life as a consultant tiktoks, we now have a travel blog from none other than Open AI. Sam Altman was on a tour of multiple countries, and they complied with the user insights in this blog post. Here’s what you need to know:
People are using AI a lot, but they fear the risks as well.
Governments and the general public want to be sure Open AI won’t screw them over.
Open AI will invest in AI education and more languages to make AI accessible.

EU lawmakers have just been absolutely slammed by over 150 execs from the likes of Renault, Heineken, Airbus, and Siemens.
In an open letter regarding the recent EU AI Act, they say that it jeopardises competitiveness and technological sovereignty; that it suppresses opportunity in Europe; and it threatens the spirit of innovation that’s bubbling right now.
The fundamental reason: companies developing foundation models will have disproportionate compliance costs and liabilities.
