🔎 Trends & news
OpenAI released Tasks for ChatGPT - Tasks allow ChatGPT to send you one-time or recurring reminders based on your custom request. Think of Tasks as a prompt with an alarm. So, if something can’t be done with a prompt currently, don’t hope Tasks can do them. Learning new things and custom reminders can be good examples for using Tasks.
The premise of Tasks i.e. AI working for you in the background is promising but the current implementation is not it. They are too limited and buggy. I’m currently stuck with a new email from OpenAI every hour because the page to delete Tasks isn’t working properly.
A new study from Nigeria tested GPT-4 for AI-assisted tutoring. The results show a 2 year equivalent of learning progress in just 6 weeks, which is insane. It helped all students, especially girls who were initially behind. AI use here was guided by teachers, so no, teaching is not dead yet.
Luma Labs launched a new video generation model Ray 2, especially focused on shots where motion is critical. Think running, fighting, driving. The visual quality is more realistic than their previous attempts. Text-to-video with Ray 2 is available to use now, with image and video inputs coming soon.
Keeping up with tech news isn't easy (we should know). That's why Dan Ni created TLDR, the newsletter that covers the most interesting news in just 5 minutes. No sports, politics, or weather. And it's actually fun to read. Get it for free.*
OpenAI also released their economic blueprint for AI—most well-read people I know got bored reading that, so I’m waiting until one of them powers through and explains it to me.
