Digest #520 → Subscribe | Upgrade to Pro

Hey folks,

Keshav tried to pull an all-nighter creating a snapshot of AI in 2024. Didn’t get all the way through but you can see the top stories from the first half of the year (built entirely with Replit 🧡)

We’ll be back on 7th Jan. Happy Holidays everyone!

TLDR; inside today’s newsletter

  • Free Copilot, calling ChatGPT and Nvidia’s baby supercomputer.

  • ICYMI: two new courses for you to get stuck into

  • snack n skill - create an AI-powered project tracker in Airtable

  • 5 new AI tools (one i highly recommend) plus relaxed Midjourney

  • 3 posts on 2024’s best tools, agent use and industry impact

  • to-do’s

Alright, let’s get to it!

  • Github Copilot now has a free tier for VS Code users. It comes with 50 chat requests and 2000 completions per month. Enough to get hooked and onboard a large number of developers worldwide.

  • OpenAI kinda stretched it with 12 days, didn’t it? But never mind.

    • Day 9 of OpenAI was a mini dev-day. They introduced o1 to the API, added improvements (and price cuts) for the realtime API, preference fine-tuning, new SDKs for Go & Java, and more general improvements.

    • On day 10, OpenAI gave ChatGPT a mobile number: 1-800-CHATGPT i.e. +18002428478. Users in the US & Canada can call these numbers for 15 minutes a month, while other regions can text message it on WhatsApp.

For the final 2 days, a new “Tasks” feature in ChatGPT is expected. Also, we haven’t seen anything truly for agents from OpenAI. You can watch our blog for updates.

  • Nvidia released a $250 card for using AI models on the edge - Jetson Orin Nano Super.

  • Handle your phone calls 24/7 with AI

    • Deploy no-code, always-on, and human-like AI Phone calls

    • Book appointments, transfer calls, and extract valuable info.

    • Easily connects with your tech stack (native integrations with HubSpot and more)

🍽️ Snack ‘n’ skill

Learn how to create an AI-powered project tracker in Airtable

Managing multiple projects and tasks can get messy fast. But what if AI could help build and maintain your project management system? This tutorial shows how to use Airtable's AI co-builder to create a customized project tracker that your whole team can use.

Step 1. Set up your project base

Start with Airtable's AI app builder and select the Project Management template. The AI will create a pre-configured base with all the essential components for tracking programs, projects, and tasks.

Step 2. Customize your tracking system

  • Import your existing project data using CSV files or manual entry

  • Modify table structures to match your workflow needs

  • Create specialized interfaces for different team roles

  • Set up Kanban boards for visual task management

  • Build custom dashboards for stakeholder reporting

  • Configure automated status updates and notifications

Tip: Let Airtable's AI suggest improvements to your base structure. It can recommend additional fields, automations, and views based on your data patterns.

This walkthrough is a condensed version of this tutorial. It's part of our Automating Project Management course. Check it out to master AI-powered project management.
