Hello folks, Bethany read our tutorial on how to create an ebook from your notes and took it to the next level. She wrote a 100-page ebook in a week with AI. Love to see this!
ps: Tune in to our session with Chris today where he’ll cover building an AI sales assistant. Disclaimer: you might wanna build one of your own after the event.
Here’s what we have today;

AI Scientist by Sakana AI - Can AI discover new science? Sakana AI built an AI (based on LLMs) that does open-ended exploration and finds research ideas. It then tries to implement them, writes a paper (in <$15), and reviews it as well. This AI scientist’s first goal is to find ideas to enhance itself i.e. ideas for better ML research.🍿Our Summary (also below)
Universal Music and Meta just inked a multi-year deal. The agreement expands their partnership across Meta's platforms, including WhatsApp for the first time. No specific deets are revealed but it promises fair compensation for artists, tackles AI-generated content concerns, and opens up new monetization opportunities.
Cosine's Genie smashes the SWE-Bench record. This AI software engineering model scored 30.08% on the SWE-Bench, a 57% improvement over the previous best. They trained on proprietary data mimicking how human software engineers think and solve a problem—leading to much better performance than prompt engineering.
Enhance RAG response quality with better data preparation. Unstructured data is notoriously hard to wrangle, but AI systems are hungry for it. Parse, de-identify, chunk, and embed clean, normalized data from any file format for your vector store with Tonic Textual for better quality RAG systems. (sponsor)

QUICK BITES
Move over, human researchers! There's a new AI in town that can do everything from coming up with ideas to writing papers and even peer-reviewing them.
What's going on here?
Sakana AI is attempting to create an AI scientist who can discover new ideas, starting with ML research.
What does this mean?
The AI Scientist automates the entire research process—brainstorming ideas, coding experiments, analyzing results, writing papers, and even peer-reviewing. It can work in an open-ended loop, building on previous ideas to generate new research directions
The system produced papers in areas like diffusion models and transformer architectures that were rated as "Weak Accept" for top ML conferences. Each paper costs only about $15 to produce, potentially democratizing research.
Why should I care?
This could be a game-changer for scientific discovery. Imagine unleashing thousands of tireless AI researchers on the world's toughest problems! But it also raises thorny questions:
Will human scientists become obsolete? (The creators say no, we'll just "move up the food chain")
How do we prevent misuse, like flooding journals with AI-generated papers?
Can AI really come up with truly revolutionary ideas, or just iterate on existing concepts?
Either way, the era of fully automated science is here. Better brush up on your peer review skills - you might be evaluating an AI's next big breakthrough!
