Daily Digest: Who wins image generation?

PLUS: Hermes improves over Llama

Want to get in front of 100k AI enthusiasts? Work with us here

Hello folks, a calm Friday after an insane week. Most insane of those? Google actually shipped an AI voice assistant to paying Android users before OpenAI did.

Here’s what we have today;

PICKS
  1. Google is also giving more US users access to their image playground ImageFX based on their new Imagen 3 model. They also shared the paper for the model. This model also powers the Pixel Studio on new Pixel phones. Google is likely cooking something to bring it to Gemini too (and secretly praying to avoid messing up like last time).

  2. Nous Research released Hermes3 - First fine-tuned Llama 3.1 405B with long-term context retention, multi-turn conversation, complex roleplaying and agentic capabilities. The claim is that Hermes3 aligns with what you want with better instruction following and less limitations.

  3. New extreme LLM compression methods: AQLM and PV-Tuning cut model size by 8x, retain 95% quality. Thanks to these LLM compression methods, you can now run an LLM on your home computer: learn how they were developed → read the article
