GPT-4 details are leaked
PLUS: AI agents upgrade, discrimination and wildfires.
Hello folks, here’s what we have today;
Our picks

The folks at Semianalysis did a post (behind paywall) on GPT-4 ‘s architecture, infra, costs, and much more. Yam Peleg posted the details from that post on Linkedin, and a few hours later, Yam took down his summary due to copyright claims. Well, once something is on the internet, it’s on there. Someone copy-pasted Yam’s Public post here.

If you’re riding the AI agents hype train, BabyAGI has got some upgrades. There are new ‘skills,’ the things that the agent uses to complete tasks; key optionality, so that the agent can choose between multiple models or API for the same task; and a bunch of other things that go straight over my head. I’ll leave the rest up to you!

I hate to pull the mood down in our picks, but this is one people should be aware of. Researchers have found that ‘AI detection’ tools tend to discriminate against non-native English speakers because of simpler word choices. Running 91 English essays through the detectors, some incorrectly flagged over 90% of cases.

It’s been a while since we covered an obscure start-up doing funky work in here, but I love this one. Pano AI uses AI vision to detect impending wildfires, and they’ve just landed a $17m Series A. They’re currently monitoring 6 million acres of land, are partnered with T-Mobile, and even helped out with a recent fire in Oregon 15 minutes before the first 911 call.
