Tiktok's new chatbot
PLUS: Try Google's search AI, Chatgpt app in more countries and medical AI.
Hey folks, today we have the ChatGPT app launching in multiple countries, including UK. Then Google is opening up the search generative experience to more people via their search labs option. TikTok is jumping on the chatbot train and testing an in-app chatbot called Tako.
Last but not least, AI helps in finding an antibiotic capable of killing a superbug.
Let’s get to it.

Sorry Microsoft, but I think with this one you might be about to slip back into second place on the old AI search engine front… Google is opening up access to Search Labs, their home of all things experimentation for AI search. The big ticket in the Labs is the Search Generative Experience, which displays an AI-generative paragraph at the top of your search results.
The Verge argues that this could truly revolutionise SEO - what if companies start scrambling to appear in the AI section rather than the links? It’s still a waitlist, but time to jump on it!

I’m getting serious Snapchat round 2 vibes on this one, and that ain’t a good thing… TikTok are testing an in-app chatbot of their own called Tako, and it’ll be used to help you find similar clips you might like and answer questions about the one you’re watching.
Call me a cynic, but I really can’t see this one going down too well - what will that really add to the TikTok experience? Isn’t their algorithm so good that it finds all the videos you wanna watch itself? Anyway, I hope it gets a better response than Snapchat’s!

OpenAI’s release of ChatGPT as an iOS app has gone down an absolute treat - a whopping 500k users within a week. And now they’ve announced it’ll be available in multiple more countries. Not sure how many readers we have from these, but shout out if you are.
One more bit of fun from OpenAI and ChatGPT: they're starting to roll out Shared Links, where you’ll be able to share your AI chat with friends and colleagues.

I’m a massive fan of AI-related medical advances - it’s just about the best application of AI we can hope for. The BBC reported yesterday that scientists have used it to discover an antibiotic capable of killing a superbug - a bug that’s capable of causing systemic risk.
This one in particular focussed on the bacteria that can infect wounds and cause pneumonia, and apparently it wreaks havoc in hospitals left, right, and centre. Check out the link to read how AI was applied to reach this achievement.
