Youtube goes all in on AI music

Youtube is partnering with Universal Music Group and kicking off a Music AI Incubator. This includes artists like Anitta, Yo Gotti, Frank Sinatra estate, and more. Youtube’s working with three principles in this experiment:

1) Getting big labels to understand AI is here.
2) Get artists paid for using their content.
3) Maintaining copyright and safety.

Midjourney introduces Vary - Its version of inpainting. It comes in three styles, Vary: Strong, Subtle and Region. The region mode allows you to select a part of the image and then prompt the changes. Still dodgy but Grimes says it’s AMAMZING. 🤣

Reinforced self-training (ReST) for language modelling. This new paper from DeepMind claims that you can improve a model by training on its own output.

TLDR is that it will select only the best generations of an LLM and train on them -> Reinforcing only the "good parts" of the model.
